“Softsports of Sensual Sorts” is a participatory game of mini golf based around the structure of the game-like application, Tinder. Mckinna's work explores how social media accounts function as an extension of self, examines ways in which they invite the participation of others, and critiques our intimate connection to them. Her work seeks to transform the gallery space into game pieces with the use of Astro Turf, wallpaper, and multiple materials. The exhibition intends to inspire the viewers to become active in the gallery space, as they play the roles of participants and spectators at the same time.
McKinna is an interdisciplinary artist working in photography, sculpture, and installation. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of South Florida in 2016 and is currently a Master of Fine Arts candidate in Creative Photography at the School of Art and Art History, University of Florida.
