A solo exhibition by Caroline Crawford

Curated by Emmanuel Manu Opoku

Caroline Crawford is a 4th year undergraduate student from Central Florida pursuing her BFA in Painting at the School of Art and Art History, University of Florida. She has participated in several group exhibitions in Florida, and recently had her solo exhibition "Not My Place to S(t)ay" at GFAA Gallery in Gainesville. Crawford's practice was inspired by her mother who is an artist and her father who works with wood. Themes about her collage paintings include dreams, the subconscious and her perceptions about the introspective connection between people. With playfulness of subtle lightning embedded in her paintings like Adam Elsheimer and Gerard van Honthorst, the artist highlights her fascination with the natural grain of wood on which she paints. Her transformative combination suggests emotional abundance caused by mysteries.
